Biologist | Editor | Illustrator
About Me
I’m a biologist who has worked in different fields of biology: evolutionary ecology, sustainable agriculture, and molecular & cell biology.
I’ve worked as a scientific editor in various capacities for many journals. I was a scientific managing editor for Elsevier before I joined the journal Molecular Cell (Cell Press) as an Associate Scientific Editor. As a Features Editor for the journal The Plant Cell, I continue to write front matter articles, attend board meetings and provide pre-review scientific consultation on papers. I use the knowledge and expertise I have gathered over the years to help scientists edit their manuscripts and tell compelling scientific stories at Life Science Editors.

My interest in translating complex scientific concepts into accessible narratives transcends the written word. I am also a scientifically informed illustrator who is deeply passionate about helping scientists communicate their discoveries through accessible and engaging visual formats. My work has been featured on many journal covers over the years. I have been interviewed by The Company of Biologists and the American Society of Plant Biologists about my artistic process. I enjoy teaching my process to scientists through workshops and seminars. In my spare time I love to write about science, especially the history of science and its influence on science art.
As a conscious and concerned citizen I am passionate about science advocacy and public outreach. The Toronto Public Library hosted my first solo art exhibition in 2023, which I used as a platform to educate members of my community about science through my art. I also volunteer at events like the Canadian nation-wide Science Rendezvous. As a member of the Grants Writing Committee for the Canadian Science Policy Conference I help identify, research and write grant proposals that may fund knowledge mobilization initiatives in Canada.
When I’m not editing papers or working on an illustration project, I like to spend my time with a good book, biking around town, travelling to different corners of the world, and enjoying nature.
